Dear Fathers and sisters.
Greetings from Gianelli Convent School and Community.
We would like to express our gratitude and thankfulness amidst the devastating situation due to sudden eruption of backwaters in Kamptee Khanan river on 29th August 2020.
We experienced innumerable blessings in many and varied ways invariably. The flooded waters caused great alarming and panic in our hearts as it erupted gradually and worsened by the end of the day on Saturday 29th August. It was like the Titanic ship sinking experience. Thus we could only witness, the submerging of the ground floor of our school building, by the severe and devastating flood.
This natural catastrophe caused great damage to the material like furniture, electronics and some important documents, an environmental loss for the school and convent. In these terrifying moments, we experienced the protecting hand of God, who saved us from further destruction and we saw His guardian angels visiting us through various personnel.
First of all, we thank and appreciate His Grace Archbishop Elias Gonsalves who stood by us as a true shepherd by extending his prayerful support and ensuring every possible way to support us by providing the core team of personnel, among them we acknowledge gratefully the enthusiastic and adventurous efforts of Fr. Balaraj Madanu, Fr. Thomas Joseph, Fr.Vivian Lobo, Fr. Joseph Polyshetty and Fr. Narendra, Sr. Rani SJL, Sr. Isha Priya AC, Sr. Seema SJB and Pallottine sisters from Ranala who personally rendered their generous service in cleaning up the affected school premises.
A very special thanks to the CDMRR Committee of the Archdiocese, who under the able guidance of Rev. Fr. Balaraj extended their helping hands in cleansing the school. We appreciate their fraternal thoughtfulness in providing everything that was necessary for our survival in this disaster moments. We also express our heartfelt thanks to our Parish priest Fr. Sebastian D'Costa who was so concerned about us. We gratefully acknowledge those fathers and sisters who visited us and showed their solidarity with us, and also who strengthened us through their prayers, , messages and phone calls. We kindly request you to continue supporting us through your prayers.
